Meet Ayoub, Ad Operations Manager at Sublime

Hi, can you say a few words about you?

Hello! My name is Ayoub. As I am half-tunisian/half-portuguese, I am fortunate to have lived in various countries, which resulted in my ability to speak 5 different languages.

After joining Tradelab (now Jellyfish) for my final internship, I discovered the world of digital advertising, which oriented my career intention towards that area. Afterwards, I had the opportunity to work in different companies, such as Lagardère or IAS prior to joining Sublime.

Can you tell us about your position at Sublime?

As an Ad Operations Manager, I am fully responsible of the setup, optimization and the good delivery of all campaigns related to the agency Publicis. KPIs and clients’ satisfaction of their campaigns’ performance is my utmost objective.

That being said, during the process of a campaign, I could literally end up exchanging with anyone in Sublime due to the fact that the performance of a campaign depends on various factors and that’s one of the reasons I love working at Sublime.

What was your dream job when you were a child?

To be honest, I have never had a dream job as a child. The only thing I was afraid of was being told what I had to wear at the office. I used to dread the day I would have to wear a suit to go to work every day, like my father did when I was kid.

How would you describe Sublime’s company culture?

Interesting question, really! Working at Sublime really feels like a walk in the park. Not because it’s easy, but because people are very welcoming and fun to be around. My colleagues try to be as understanding as they can, and they always answer fast as soon as you need something. I feel blessed to have met these people and I hope that the company’s culture will remain the same.

What are your passions in life? We’ve heard you’re a rapper?

I guess that the fact that I love rap music has never been a secret to anyone in the company! To be honest, I love music and everything that revolves around that genre. When I was a kid, I used to be a drummer and I even had a band back when I lived in Portugal. Since then, I became a rapper, started doing shows every now and then, but don’t ask me what my Rap name is. It is a secret! laughs. (To be fair, I’m sure if you look hard enough, you’ll find something quite fast).

Why did you choose to work in Ad operations?

After my final internship at Tradelab, all I wanted was to understand how the digital advertising industry worked. I had so many questions and few answers quenched my thirst... How can I set up an RTB campaign? What is a branding format? What is prebid? Waterfall? Header Bidding? Viewability? There is an expression that I love and that perfectly explains the solution that I found. “Mettre les mains dans le cambouis”, which literally means getting your hands dirty, and that was the best solution I had found in order to learn. That is exactly what I get from working as an AdOps Manager and as long as I keep learning, my motivation is at its peak.
