Interview Bolaji

Hi, can you say a few words about you?

Hi my name is Bolaji Farinto, I'm 27 years old. I’m originally from Nigeria but was born in the UK. I have been working for Sublime for almost 3 years now.

Can you tell us about your position at Sublime?

I am Creative Manager for the UK. My main role is to design high impact quality skins and other rich media campaigns.

What is your best accomplishment?

For me it must be becoming a leader as a Creative Manager. I always take work seriously with some room to enjoy what I am doing. Working at Sublime has allowed me to grow more as a creative professional than ever before.

What makes you get up in the morning?

The excitement of creating something new for a brand with the amazing formats Sublime has to offer. Not only that, it is also the interaction I have with my colleagues daily that can really make a difference to the day.

What do you like best about your job? I love the flexibility of the job and I work with some amazing people too. I also enjoy learning, almost every day on the job. It’s true when they say, “you learn something new every day”.

Do you have some tips to remain creative?

Always try and experience something new. i.e an art installation, a book, music and much more. It really helps you view things differently and that, I would say, influences my work.

A passion outside of work?

I love football and try to play when I can or even spectate. I've recently got into refereeing too.

What did you miss most about your colleagues while working from home?

I would say the banter!

Why did you decide to join Sublime?

At the time, joining Sublime was a brand-new challenge for me. Believe it or not the role was intimidating as it wasn’t what I did previously. However, I took on the challenge and till this day I am still being changed, credit to Sublime’s adaptive way of thinking.

What do you think is the aspect of your role most neglected by peers?

I think peers forget/neglect that it takes skill to do what I do. To create and design take time and the demand from clients and peers leads me to believe they fail to acknowledge that simple fact. In a few words, to be creative you need time and less pressure so that you can display the best of your skills through the creative.

What is your greatest strength and your biggest weakness?

I would say my greatest strength is ensuring that the work gets done to a high standard and ensuring the client is always happy despite any circumstances. I cope well under pressure and I believe I am a great people’s person, which helps when speaking to clients weekly. My biggest weakness is trying to make everyone happy. Sometimes not everything is achievable with time constraints.

Your motto in life?

Life can be tough but no matter what, keep going, keep moving forward.
