interview Lucie

Hi, can you say a few words about you?

Hi! My name is Lucie, I’m 25. I grew up in the countryside, next to Lyon in France. My studies were a great opportunity to explore the world. I studied in Dublin, Florida, and went to Singapore for my end of studies internship. After these amazing experiences, I decided I was too far from my relatives – and French food – and came back to France where I started my first job at Sublime, in 2019.

Can you tell us about your position at Sublime?

I work as a Marketing project manager. I started with the German market, supporting the local teams with their Marketing Communications plan, and I am now dedicated to support the French market. I also work on topics at a global level such as corporate marketing, employer branding, and our social media strategy. The variety is what I love in this job. What makes this position so interesting is the people I work with, both internally and externally.

What does it feel like to be the one interviewed, and not the interviewer? ;)

Well, doing these interviews is something I really love. We don’t necessarily know our colleagues’ backgrounds, studies, passions, and engagements outside of work… and I’m glad we started this since the first lockdown. I’m happy to share my story now.

Can you explain to us what “time for the Planet” is? What is your engagement for Time for the Planet?

Time for the planet is a nonprofit company that is fundraising 1 billion euros to create 100 companies fighting against global warming. They use entrepreneurship to act quickly and globally. They were actually created in Lyon and have a great support from l’OL (it should ring a bell) 😊 I am more and more concerned with environmental challenges, and I am very proud to be part of this movement. Well, for now I mostly donated money (laughs). They have gathered a huge community, but the priority remains to communicate about the project to onboard more people. I try to raise awareness as much as possible, I am happy to see relatives joining. Hopefully colleagues soon! People can donate from 1€, go guys, please help for a more sustainable world https://www.time-planet.com/ 😊

What’s going to be big in marketing for next year?

My point of view won’t be surprising: I think marketing will need more than ever to be aligned with CSR (corporate social responsibility). My bachelor & master thesis were focused on this subject, so I’m probably biased; but I do think transparency and alignment are more important than ever. Companies can’t pretend to communicate on new ethical offers while treating their employees poorly anymore. In France, we have for example these Instagram accounts called “Balance ta Start-Up”, “Balance ton agency” that made a lot of noise. No matter what one thinks of these practices, they show that employees and clients are more demanding than ever regarding social & environmental practices, and they have power.

Where can we get the best cookies in Paris?

I do have a sweet tooth, so thank God they’re not too close to the office! My colleague Marie showed me this place called Scoop me a cookie, they’re amazing. ‘Drive me nuts’ or ‘je t’épouse dans l’heure’ are some of their names, just saying…

What is your favorite memory of working in the Marketing team?

Does being called “Charlie’s angels” with the team counts?

I’ve been at Sublime for almost 2 years ½ and I’ve spent 2/3 working from home. We had some fun during zoom meetings, but the best memories were at the office. Honestly too hard to choose, but doing yoga, running, laughing, celebrating our birthdays… these small moments that make you happy to come to the office every day. We’re a great team and support each other, we work in the same direction.
