Margot interview

Hi, can you say a few words about you?

I’m Margot, I’m 25 and come from a small town near Paris. I’ve got a Master’s degree in International Trade and Foreign Languages, and have been working for Sublime for three years. I joined the company in 2017 for a six-month internship as Marketing Manager Assistant…and never left! Indeed, after I graduated, I was offered the opportunity to continue the Sublime adventure full time, which I gladly accepted. Now I am a happy Marketing Project Manager.

Can you tell us about your position at Sublime?

In the Marketing team, we undertake the creation and production of marketing tools that help the employees in their day-to-day relation with clients, such as sales presentations and special offers.

I participate in the management of the communication and corporate identity of the company, which is done through various means: newsletters, press releases, social networks, our website. I also take part in the organisation and supervision of events such as trade fairs and conferences: booking of the booth, conception of the presentation for conferences etc. I’m more specifically in charge of producing content and coordinating our marketing initiatives in Spain and Italy, where we have local teams and representative offices. It also implies translating and localizing the content we produce to the specificities of each market.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love about my job is that we work closely with all the other departments of the company. It is really exhilarating to participate in cross-team projects because everybody brings their own know-how. And I appreciate the diversity of tasks and projects carried out by the Marketing team. Days follow one another, but they do not look alike. There is no time to be bored! Another thing I particularly like about working at Sublime is the trust placed in everyone. When I began working at Sublime as an intern, I was a rookie regarding digital advertising, but from the start I felt supported. Everything I have learned about my job and the industry I owe it to my colleagues, and I am grateful to them for that. Not to mention the cohesion between people and within the Marketing team. It has been three years now and well… the atmosphere is still terrific!

Your best memory at Sublime? Or a funny anecdote?

Let’s go for the funny anecdote. Last year during a summer seminar I realized that as much as you like a co-worker (no name, she’ll know when she’ll read it! – laugh) and appreciate collaborating with her, you can find out that both of you are utterly incompatible when it comes to kayaking together. We were unable to go straight and kept zigzagging from one bank of the river to the other and ended up totally exhausted and a little frustrated. What a team-building activity it has been for us, a piece of cake! 😅

Something your co-workers probably don’t know about you?

My interviewer helped me for this question! In fact, one thing that some of my colleagues might ignore about me is that I practiced Viet Vo Dao for nine years. It is a Vietnamese martial art, in-between judo, and karate. It was kind of a family-thing: my mother also practiced it, and my brother finished third in the French Championship. And every other year, with our club we went to Switzerland in bus to participate in a Franco-Swiss competition. Not to mention the journey up to there in a bus full of children and their parents!

A passion outside of work? A hidden talent?

I do not know if it is a real hidden talent, but thanks to Viet Vo Dao, I can count to ten in Vietnamese. To be totally frank, I have not had many opportunities to use this ability in my daily life so far. 😅
