Publishers expectations in adtech Sublime

At Sublime we frequently field questions about mobile web monetisation, with the most common question raised: “How do I monetise my mobile web inventory and attract branding campaigns?”

According to eMarketer, mobile ad spend in 2019 will top $93 billion in the US alone – more than $20 billion than what will be spent on TV advertising. In 2017, the IAB UK revealed £5.2 billion was invested in mobile advertising in the region, showing an increase in mobile ad spend of 37% in the last two years. Comparatively, desktop grew by only 14% in the same period. With so much money flowing into mobile advertising, how do publishers prepare for this and what is the best strategy to monetise their mobile inventory?

This rise in mobile ad spend reflects the time consumers spend on mobile each month, particularly when compared to desktop – in the UK for example, time spent on mobile is 3.6 times higher than desktop. In the US and France, time spent by users on mobile is 2.6 and 2.0 times higher, respectively.
