Meet Roman, General Accountant at Sublime

Hi, can you say a few words about you?

My name is Roman, I’m from Bussy-Saint-Georges, next to Paris. I grew up in the Paris area and joined Sublime in June 2019.

Can you tell us about your position at Sublime?

I work as a general accountant at Sublime. I started with the international subsidiaries : Singapore, the US and Germany. Basically, my work is to prepare all the accounting which is the bookkeeping and the monthly reporting on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. I am the main contact for the managing directors of these business units. I am now also in charge of the parent company, which is located in Paris.

What do you like the most about your job?

What I like the most is to be in contact with all the teams, because everyone needs finance, has administrative questions, and I’m glad to help in any way I can. I’ve been very happy to join Sublime, I had a warm welcome and everyone is very friendly and easy to speak with, this is really nice. We have a global meeting every month to expose the guidelines of the company and any idea can be discussed with the management, which is great.

What is your best accomplishment, either professional or personal?

I think it was both a professional and personal experience. It was in 2017 when I left Paris for Boston, to work as an accountant in an accounting firm. I didn’t know anyone in the United Stated, I just had a few skype interviews with my future manager, jumped on a plane and I met my colleagues while I was already there. I met a lot of people, made great friends, they gave me responsibilities at work, helped me grew as an accountant and as a man. I can definitely say that being 22 and deciding to leave Paris and start a new chapter of my life in the US was my best accomplishment. After that, I came back to Paris and started at Sublime.

Why did you decide to join Sublime ?

I decided to join Sublime for the international environment in a human-sized company. I liked the way interviews went on and the independence I was promised to develop my position, like setting up new processes, giving my American experience regarding the US entity, and improving my accounting skills with the Finance team.
